AMD notebook CPUs hit 1GHz in June
DigiTimes is reporting that Advanced Micro Devices is readying a 1GHz notebook chip line for June launch. The CPU would compete with Intel Corp.'s 1GHz Pentium III. According to the publication, Intel will launch 1.06 and 1.13GHz Tualatin chips in Q3, when Pentium III prices will be cut by as much as 44 percent. Accordingly, the 1GHz Pentium III will be reduced to $401 from $722. No information is yet available on the AMD chip price.
