AMD might benefit more by strengthening its Taiwan office
Processor maker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) was lately said to be planning to move its Asia-Pacific headquarters from Hong Kong to Shanghai, hoping to be closer to the highly potential China market. However, by relocating its Asia-Pacific office in that direction, without a direct Taipei-Shanghai air link, AMD would be farther away from Taiwan, the major R&D center of its motherboard clients, reducing the opportunities for direct contact with board makers.
