AMD may pitch in to make Mac chips
AMD and Motorola are reported to be in negotiations to manufacture Motorola processors at AMD's new factory in Dresden, Germany.
Analysts say such an agreement could ease the capacity crunch preventing Motorola from making enough G4 chips to supply Apple Computer's Power Macintosh needs.
The deal could also help cash-strapped AMD make ends meet, and keep its Dresden facility running at full capacity - even if sales of the new Athlon chip fall short of expectations.
