AMD Launches Live! Home Cinema, Again
AMD whips out AMD Live ! Home Entertainment. Live ! Home Entertainment is yet another brand to add to the company’s portfolio of sticker brands.
The new “state-of-the-art home entertainment system” is aimed at consolidating audio video equipment in the living room into a single sleek all-in-one PC. The AMD LIVE ! Home Cinema provides users a compelling home theater platform that offer “differentiated features” to consumers through a mix of AMD products.
"The PC has developed into a central point for consumer entertainment. Through AMD LIVE ! technology, AMD is introducing solutions that transform home entertainment," said Leslie Sobon, Director of World Wide Product Marketing at AMD. "Built on our next-generation platforms, AMD LIVE ! Home Cinema is designed from the ground up to enable advanced, visually rich and realistic digital entertainment, delivering The Ultimate Visual Experience to consumers whenever and wherever they choose."
The platform is powered by either an AMD Phenom X4 9000-series quad-core processor or AMD Phenom X3 8000-series triple-core processor, and of course ATI Radeon HD graphics. Systems will also feature an all-digital adaptive, 100-watt per channel, D2Audio solution using DAE-3 devices to optimize sounds.
“This truly convergent consumer platform brings together two leading-edge solution companies with a strong commitment to a premium home entertainment experience,” said Skip Taylor, CTO, D2Audio. “Our involvement in this AMD platform expands D2Audio’s presence in the home cinema market in a unique format consistent with this mission.”
Consumers looking to complete their home entertainment unit can find the new platform wrapped around the usual desktop and small-form-factor PCs. Interestingly enough, AMD claims this platform was launched at this year’s Computex. However, a few press releases dating back to January 2007 contain information on AMD Live ! Home Entertainment.
