AMD Duron Hits 1.1GHz
Now that the summer's over, maybe we'll start to see a little action on the tech front as companies try to move product by the end of the year. In the spirit of competition, AMD just turned loose the 1.1GHz Duron processor, which includes 3DNow! Professional technology and hardware data pre-fetch support. The new 1.1GHz Duron supports AMD's Socket A platform. Systems based on AMD's new processor are expected to be available in Q4 this year (isn't that now?). The 1.1GHz Duron processor is priced at $103 in 1,000-unit quantities and has 192 kB of total on-chip cache, a 200MHz front-side bus, a superscalar floating point unit, and hardware data pre-fetch.
