AMD's Dual GPU Radeon HD 5970 is Fastest Ever
Not bad if you have $600 sitting around.
You may have already noticed on our front page that there's a new king of the graphics card industry tested today.
AMD today announced the ATI Radeon HD 5970, which it calls the fastest card ever created thanks to pairing two HD 5870 GPUs together. After we put it to the test, we're going to agree with this claim (until the next best thing comes along, of course).
The ATI Radeon HD 5970 graphics card delivers nearly 5 TeraFLOPS of compute power. Grab two of them together in CrossFireX and you're looking at nearly 10 TeraFLOPS.
"With the arrival of the ATI Radeon HD 5970, the fastest graphics card in the world, we’ve cemented AMD as the unquestioned graphics leader," said Matt Skynner, vice president and general manager, AMD Graphics Group. "With the holiday shopping season right around the corner, the new card, coupled with the awesome power of ATI Eyefinity technology, is the ultimate setup for serious gamers."

omfg
its over a foot long, its a beeeeeauty! its a cross between a 5850 and a 5870, then x it by 2, = i want one of these mo-fo's
I'm not sure if there are any games that a 5870 can't get close to maxing out, but at least we have the 5970 to pick any slack.
the question on my lips is, with so many games coming as console ports, will this card ever be pushed in the way AMD have designed it?
Look on the bright side, once the playstation 5 gets released the ports will run great on this.
Before you all get too excited, perhaps you should look at the Crysis benchmark results - at virtually 1080p resolution they have it in Very high detail but still no Anti Aliasing or Anisotropic Filtering for 50fps game play - Video cards still have a long way to go chaps. Also bear in mind that Crysis is getting on a bit now - never mind what new releases will have to tax the GPU with...
By the way this is really a paper launch - we still haven't got the 5870 over in the UK yet - and that will be £300 when it finally arrives!!
they are here, just as rare as rocking horse shit!
Id love to get my hands on one! but if only i could, 0 stock everywhere!
