AMD Athlon XP 2400+ Starting To Ship
Supplies of the AMD Athlon XP 2400+ should begin reaching U.S. dealers by within the next two weeks, although enthusiasts will have to wait for the faster processors.
AMD announced the AMD Athlon XP 2400+ and 2600+ on Aug. 21, timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Athlon, according to an AMD spokeswoman. Unfortunately, buyers have had to wait almost two months for the 2400+, and the 2600+ still remains over the horizon for nearly all customers.
Although the XP 2400+ has shown up on shopping pages like PriceWatch, dealers have said they're only taking preliminary orders for the parts. Dealers say they have adequate stocks of boxed Athlon XP 2200+ chips, however.
