AMD and Gateway: Together again?
Just when it appeared that the relationship between Gateway and AMD was permanently on the rocks, the two are rumored to be teaming up on an Athlon-based PC.
Gateway announced several months ago that it was switching from the AMD K6-2 chip to the Intel Celeron for the Profile 2 all-in-one PC, leaving only one AMD-based PC in the entire Gateway line.
Rumors are now swirling about plans to offer an Athlon-based desktop in Gateway's now defunct Select line of Desktops, to start at about $1,299.
