We couldn't leave the FX out of our overclocking attempts, although the increase from 2.20 to 2.31 GHz was relatively small. Here, too, the rule is: games benefit most from overclocking.
For the first time in years, Athlon64 FX owners once more have the pick of the field: besides the standard x11.0 multiplier, it lets you set lower and higher values. Thus, overclocking without raising the HyperTransport speed requires no effort. The only bad news is that Gigabyte is the only motherboard producer to provide BIOS versions that support this "feature".
Operation at 2.265 MHz clock speed was stable.
At a HyperTransport speed of almost 206 MHz, the system still ran with fast timings.
