Altec's 4100 and 2100 Speaker Systems

The lines are becoming more and more blurred between what is considered a computing device and what is an entertainment device, but a decent sound system is a must whether you're sitting in front of your computer or in front of your TV. Altec Lansing's new speaker systems will hook up to your computer or to your game console, which, in the case of some consoles, means they're also attached to your DVD player. The 4100 delivers 140 watts of total system power in four-channel sound and features four compact satellites and a dual-ported subwoofer with two 5.25" long-throw woofers. The 4100 also gives you a dual-mode audio selector that gives you choices based on the audio source. Game mode puts you in the midst of four-channel surround sound and "Music+" (Stereo x2) is there when you need stereo sound. The system includes a freestanding wired digital controller with master and rear volume controls, bass and treble controls and a headphone jack, along with an auxiliary input for connecting CD players, MP3 players and other audio sources. The 2100 gives you 2.1 channel audio via two satellite speakers along with a dual-ported subwoofer with two five" long-throw woofers and a digital controller for volume control. Both systems come with an AAC1 adapter for direct connection to gaming consoles. The 4100 and 2100 are now on the shelves for $199 and $129 respectively.
