ALi's New Southbridge for Ultra ATA/133
Acer Laboratories (ALi) just let us know about the M1535D+ Southbridge, which supports Maxtor's Fast Drive ATA/133 hard drive interface. Maxtor's Ultra ATA/133 uses the current IDE interface transmission but the company says it's 1.3 times faster than Ultra ATA/100 and is backward compatible with ATA/66 and /100. ALi's M1535D+ is equipped with ATA 66/100/133, super I/O, audio processing, software modem, keyboard controller, fast infra-red (FIR), hot key power on, SPDIF, and 6 USB ports. Along with support for X86 architectures for Intel, AMD, Transmeta and RISE, ALi's M1535D+ can be used with most major CISC and RISC CPUs, as well as Information Appliance products, set top boxes, web pads, blade servers and workstations.
