Airgo expected to launch pre-N chips in H2
Wi-Fi chip maker Airgo Networks is developing chips for pre-N (802.11n) products, with certain chip solutions likely to come out in the second half of this year, according to market sources familiar with the company’s roadmap. Although the company is not a member of the Enhanced Wireless Consortium (EWC), a group of WLAN chipmakers initiated by Intel and other chipmakers to recommend technology specifications for the IEEE 802.11n standard, the company has said it will launch chips compliant with pre-N, or the 802.11 draft 1.0, standard, the sources noted.
