ADI Puts SoundMAX on Intel Mobos

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Depending on your audio needs, you may not think the noise is worth sacrificing a PCI slot for. Analog Devices just let us know that its SoundMAX PC audio subsystem with SPX technologies is now shipping with two new desktop boards from Intel: the D815EEA2 and D815EFV. ADI says the boards provide PC audio equivalent to that of a $200 PCI soundcard. ADI also announced that the Guillemot/Hercules, Mediatek and TerraTec, have all released CNR soundcards that support the new SoundMAX-enabled D815EEA2 and D815EFV desktop boards. Communications Network Riser (CNR) soundcards give rear surround, center, subwoofer (LFE) and digital (SPDIF) output jacks to baseline two-channel systems, enabling 4- and 5.1-multi-channel playback of Dolby Digital soundtracks and immersive 3D games. The two new Intel boards support Pentium III and Celeron processors in the 370-pin package. The ATX-form-factor D815EEA2 and the microATX D815EFV both offer Intel AC'97 integrated audio, ADI SoundMAX with SPX technologies, four back panel USB ports, and a choice of integrated or non-integrated graphics, CNR, and LAN options.
