ABIT Pulls A Return To The Past With The New BH7

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Remember the ABIT BH6? The BH6 was the a purist's board, one of the boards credited with launching the overclocking revolution. At least this is what ABIT claims with more than 2 million BH6 motherboards sold. The ABIT Engineers remember those days fondly and have been busy tweaking and testing a board that is worthy enough to follow in the footsteps of the BH6.

Step forward into the present with the introduction of the new ABIT BH7. The first board from ABIT worth to carry on in the tradition of the BH6. The new BH7 features the Intel 845PE chipset, the BH7 is ABIT Engineered for speed, stability and power, using an ABIT designed 4-phase power solution to deliver enough power while overclocking. This 4-phase power also means that the BH7 will be compatible with future 800 MHz FSB CPUs (Prescott), while many other motherboards may not. The Engineers at ABIT believe that without 4-Phase Power, the board will not be able to reach peak performance levels and will not support upcoming CPUs. The BH7 is designed to be a stripped-down, mean overclocking machine and is thus equipped with only the most necessary features: 6-Channel Audio, 3+1 serial ATA and ABIT Softmenu BIOS.

Due to the severe demands placed on a motherboard's components during overclocking, the BH7 will use only Rubycon capacitors from Japan, the highest quality capacitors available on the market and the best for overclocking. While other motherboard manufacturers do in fact use Rubycon capacitors only in the highest power consumption areas of their motherboards, ABIT believes with the greater demands of overclocking only the best will do. According to ABIT the most common quality problems that motherboard face over life of the board has to do with capacitors. By using Rubycon capacitors, ABIT believes that this gives it a lead in terms of quality and stability.
