IFA 2007: aXeRam - Transcend Presents RAM for Overclockers
Chinese company Transcend, which has made a name for itself with its flash-based products, is presenting the first RAM-modules of its aXeRam series.
Aimed at the large and growing overclocker and PC-tuning community, the company promises that its overclocking kit offers superior stability and performance. The set consists of a matched pair of 1 Gigabyte DDR2-800 sticks of RAM. In a very unusual step, Transcend gives this product a 30-year warranty – even when it is overclocked ! The modules are passively cooled using an aluminum heatsink, beneath which 16 Samsung chips reside on a six-layer PCB.
The manufacturer gives the latency as being CL-4-4-4-12, expecting this to result in a 10% performance increase over modules with a CL5 latency. Despite their higher performance, the modules are meant to run within normal parameters at a voltage of 1.8V. Transcend claims that raising the voltage to ensure stable performance will not be necessary.
Transcend’s 2 Gigabyte DDR2-800+ aXeRam overclocking kit should be available in online shops around the middle of September at a price of under £70/€100. Another version with 1066 MHz is planned for the beginning of October, although no information on pricing is available yet for these modules.

I bought 4 gigs of the aXeRam PC2-9600 (1200MHz) for £170, stuck it in my Evga 680i board and started tweaking, reached 3-3-3-8 @ 800MHz using 2.0v, 4-3-4-8 @ 1066MHz using 2.0v, 5-4-4-12 @ 1115MHz using 2.0v, 5-5-5-15 @ 1200MHz using 2.2v, 5-5-5-16 @ 1312MHz using 2.2v.
All these settings got through various stress tests completely stable, other hardware used were X6800 cooled by a titan amanda tec cooler, PC P+C 850W PSU.
Would love to see a shoot out of the latest top spec ram (these included) with the likes of TWIN2X2048-8888C4DF thrown in, as far as i'm concerned for the price it's going to be hard to beat these clocks/timings as in bang for your buck.
