Right before the full list of changes taking place in the Yahoo! executive ranks hit the press, reported emerged that Blake Jorgensen, CFO at Yahoo! was leaving the company.
The information came from an SEC filing submitted by the company yesterday morning. Yahoo! has yet to issue a press release detailing the circumstances of Jorgensen's departure and in her memo about the major executive reorganization that took place yesterday. CEO Carol Bartz glossed over the fact that the company was now looking for a new CFO.
CNBC's Jim Goldman contacted a couple of analysts and reported that most found the news surprising (not to mention odd) and not one of them thought it was a good thing. According to Goldman, Jorgensen joined the company two years ago, replacing close friend, Sue Decker.
While Goldman speculates that this could be Carol Bartz wanting her own CFO rather than "a hold-over from a prior regime," we'd be more inclined to think Jorgensen left of his own accord. While we can't be sure of the reasoning behind his departure, we're nearly positive Bartz would have had no problems announcing an "out with the old, in with the new" kind of change in her memo.
Another departure from Yahoo! comes in the form of Senior Vice President of International Engineering, John Linwood. CNet reports that rather than overseeing the 1,600 employees responsible for the development, deployment, and delivery of Yahoo's services outside the U.S., Linwood will be taking up the position of CTO at the BBC starting April 1. No official word from Yahoo! on this one either. Check out the full details of the Yahoo! reorganization by clicking here.
