Motorola Confirms Xoom 2 for Mid-November in UK
Hello, Moto.
We've been hearing bits and pieces about Motorola's Xoom 2 for quite a while now. Yesterday, the device was confirmed for European availability in time for Christmas thanks to a flyer from Carphone Warehouse Ireland. Despite the lack of any details regarding a UK launch, we assumed that we'd be getting the device at the same time as our friends on the Emerald Isle and it looks like we were right.
Today, Moto stepped up to the plate, announcing two different models of Xoom 2 for the European market. The company launched the Motorola Xoom 2 and the Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition this morning, detailing specs for both devices. The first, the regular Xoom 2, will boast a 10.1-inch HD Gorilla Glass display, along with a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a 1.3-megapixel camera in front for video-calling and a 5-megapixel camera in the back. Customers interested in the Xoom 2 Media Edition will get the same dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 1.3-megapixel camera in front for video-calling and 5-megapixel camera in the back, but with a different screen size. While the Xoom 2's display measures in at 10.1 inches, the Xoom 2 Media Edition packs a smaller 8.2-inch HD Gorilla Glass display. Both variants run Android 3.2, also known as Honeycomb, but will get the update to Ice Cream Sandwich once it is available.
"Tablets are quickly becoming a must-have tool for staying connected, getting work done and having fun at home and on the road," said Victoria McManus, marketing director UK & Ireland, Motorola Mobility. "We are very excited about these two new additions to our tablet portfolio that build on the success of the original Motorola XOOM to now deliver more powerful tablet experiences to the European market."
These Xooms are scheduled to start shipping mid-November, which we don't need to tell you is only a couple of weeks away. Sadly, Motorola didn't spill any details on pricing. We know that it will cost €400 in Ireland, but UK pricing is still a mystery. We'll let you know as soon as we hear anything!

Prime weights *much* more than Xoom 2 Media Edition. It even weights more than Samsung Galaxy Tab. I agree Tegra 3 is nicer, but for me portability is the ultimate key.
