Guy Beats Up Mom, Over Shot, Over Gaming Noise

by - source: Tom's Hardware US

A World of Warcraft gamer apparently lost his cool when Mom told him to keep the noise level down.

27-year-old James Swan was still living with his mother when he tried to choke her to death Sunday night.

Before the incident, he shared a room with his five younger siblings and played World of Warcraft in his little corner of the room. Other than the siblings and his mother, PC gamer James Swan also shared the house with his grandfather.

On the night of the incident, the mother was jolted awake by shouts coming from Swan's room. Concerned, she entered to find him drunk and playing the MMORPG around 10 p.m.

According to True Crime Report, the mother politely asked him to be mindful of her and his five siblings, and to keep the noise level down. When he refused to remain quiet, she politely asked him to be quiet again.

Suddenly enraged by her constant interruptions, Swan allegedly grabbed his mother by the hair and threw her on the bed. One of his little brothers, already jolted awake by Swan's antics, tried to intervene and was also thrown to the bed.

The report claims that the mother ran from the room to call 911. Swan quickly followed, pulled the phone out of the wall, and then smashed his own head through the kitchen wall.

With his head bleeding, Swan allegedly wrestled his mother to the floor and tried to strangle her, threatening to kill her. The grandfather entered the scene and tried to stop the struggle without any success.

Swan said he was also going to kill the grandfather.

Intent on being the last man standing, the grandfather retrieved his revolver. Both Swan and the elder man struggled with the gun until it discharged, grazing Swan's head and shooting through the kitchen window. Apparently this did the trick, as Swan was thus taken to the hospital, and then arrested thereafter.

The report did not specify specific charges or sentencing. There was also no indication as to what triggered the sudden outbreak. It may be that a certain group of campers wouldn't leave an area, sending him over the edge.

He is addicted to PC game WOW there must be some tournaments for gamers which includes money as prizes to ease the tension in family as both parents and kids are responsible for outbreak because they are fed up with world injustice of helping them out. people must create jobs as gamer profession and train them as gamer and make PC games as sports activity.

the problem is, it's not epic at all to watch people play WOW, in fact it's quite boring. It's only fun to play your own game, thats why there aren't many official money making spectator events like other games.

This kind of article annoys me really, since all the emphasis is placed on WoW, as if WoW is somehow to blame for this behavior. It's the same when someone goes and kills somebody and the media manage to find a copy of Grand Theft Auto in their house.

The guy is a nutjob, simple as that. The fact that he was playing WoW plays no part in this.

lol I always find it funny how kids think that anyone over 20 suddenly drops dead.

I'm 24 and enjoy WoW some evenings. When you spend some time talking to the other people in the game (instead of being a 14 year old keyboard hero) you'll find out that allot of the people you play with are 40-50.

Just this week I've made 2 new friends. Both women, one is 27 and the other is 53.

He's 27 and lives in the same room as 5 siblings?! Bloody hell what's with this family, gaming's obvbiously got nothing to do with this one (even though the media will blame it anyway), he's just a total nutjob.

Also the guy saying there's something wrong with a 27 year old playing games is an idiot, back in the day when I played WoW there were several people in the guild aged 30+ who were much easier to get on with then most younger players.
Just because you're still 14 doesnt mean older people are no longer alowed to enjoy themselves in this way.
