VIDEOS: World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Alpha
Two videos were shot from the current alpha testing phase.
Thursday night Kotaku posted two videos taken from the alpha version of the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion, Cataclysm. The clips provide a glimpse into the Alliance stronghold of Stormwind and the Orcish Orgrimmar. While the clips don't offer narration or sport any signs of life, fans definitely get a tasty tour of both upcoming areas.
Recently the expansion pack entered the Family and Friends alpha-testing phase, allowing eligible gamers to copy their characters over to the Alpha servers and check out Azeroth's new look. With that said, the closed beta has not begun, however those who signed up will get a notification via email when the process begins.
As previously reported, the upcoming expansion pack will raise the level cap up from 80 to 85. In addition to new towns and new quests, the expansion will also bring redesigned and updated zones within Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms. Goblins and Worgens will now be playable races, and a secondary skill called "archaeology" will also be available.
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is expected to go live sometime in 2010.

what a depressing game.
"World of borecraft V.4" Quit while you still can I did best thing I ever did!
11million odd people pay for this, i personally don't see the appeal even after playing the trial. Maybe i'm just a bit of a graphics freak.
Look at the big triangle chunks on those trees. That's almost PS1-like chunkiness there. They could at least upgrade the graphics once in a while.
"raise the level cap up from 80 to 85."
Which took some coder less than a minute to implement. Find the appropriate constant in the code, change from 80 to 85- done. New 'feature' now implemented... Time for coffee break.
I honestly never got the whole WoW thing, or why people pay for it.

Fail.
If this game was a substance it would be outlawed or heavily regulated in most modern democracies. Blizzard should be ashamed of pushing this Cyber Crack Cocaine to children and the weak minded.

But then they'd lose half their player base due to them all using 10 year old pc's.
Oh how I miss the days of vanilla WoW when everything was so new and exciting. Not that I'm regretting quitting.

Well those on old Pcs can see one set of graphics and those on new PC can see the latest. It works fine for many other games.
