Woolworths exclusively backs Blu-ray
Woolworths has become the first high street retailer to haul itself off the fence and take sides in the next generation format war.
The chain announced earlier today that they will be giving Blu-ray the green light exclusively after March of this year.
Until now, Woolworths had stocked both HD DVD and Bul-ray. Woolies will continue to stock both formats until the end of Q1. However, HD DVDs will remain available on the Woolworths website.
All 820 Woolworths stores in the UK began selling both HD DVD and Blu-ray in October.
The decision came after Blu-ray outsold HD DVD ten to one uring Christmas sales.
