Wolfenstein Multiplayer Leaked
id Software and Activision are rather ticked off over the recent leak of the Wolfenstein Multiplayer beta.
Yesterday id Software's Peter Sokal jumped on the official Wolfenstein community forums and said that a build of the Wolfenstein Multiplayer beta was leaked and is now being distributed illegally. He said that the leak is in violation of the NDA, and warns that Activision's legal hounds are taking the matter rather seriously.
"Same applies here on the forums," he said. "If you mention that you have acquired this build, you are openly admitting to illegally obtaining the build and will be banned straight away. You have been warned."
He goes on to explain that the leaked build doesn't reflect the final, consumer-ready version of the game despite any footage, screenshots, and comments posted on the forum or elsewhere on the Internet. "There’s nothing we can do about it now except continue working on the game," he added.
After taking a quick glance at Mininova and The Pirate Bay, the multiplayer beta is indeed circulating the torrent scene, roughly weighing around 600 MB. Naturally, curious gamers may feel inclined to check out the leak despite the NDA, however fans should be wary of downloading potentially damaging viruses and malware in the process.
The final version of Wolfenstein is expected to ship on August 18 here in the States, and August 21 in Europe.
