Orange Giving Away Xbox 360s to Lumia 800 Upgraders

by - source: Orange

Two birds, one stone.

Last week, Nokia showed off its first ever Windows Phone handsets. The result of a partnership that was announced earlier this year, there's a lot riding on this arrangement for both Nokia and Microsoft. Nokia needs these phones to sell well because it needs to get back in the smartphone game, and Microsoft needs to boost Windows Phone sales. However, it seems UK mobile phone network Orange is also eager for the devices to do well and is offering its customer an Xbox 360 to upgrade to the Lumia 800.

According to the network's information page for the Lumia 800, customers eligible for upgrade and willing to sign an 18-month or 24-month contract will get a free Xbox 360 if they choose to upgrade to the Lumia 800. The carrier says it has limited stock, so the free Xbox offer is only open from November 16 (when the Lumia 800 is scheduled for launch) to November 30.

The terms and conditions instruct eligible customers to pre-register their interest in the Nokia Lumia 800 on orange.co.uk/nokia800 or pre-order at their local Orange store. Pre-orders must be secured with a £10 deposit. If you successfully pre-order or register your interest, an Xbox will be held for you until November 30. This means you have to upgrade prior to this date if you don't want your Xbox offered someone else. Orange also notes that if you return or exchange your Nokia Lumia 800, you also need to return the Xbox "in pristine condition." The Lumia 800 will be free for customers signing up to the £36 per month, 24-month Panther plan. Hit up Orange to register your interest.

The Lumia 800 was announced on October 26. Running Windows Phone 7.5, also known as Mango, Nokia is calling the Lumia 800, 'the first real Windows Phone.' The phone boasts a 1.4GHz single-core CPU, a 3.7-inch AMOLED display, 16GB of internal storage, an 8-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and 720p/30fps recording, and 25GB of cloud storage via SkyDrive. It will also be available on Three and Vodafone.
