Nintendo has announced that its thinking of pulling some of the UK Wii advertising to help combat demand for the console.
The company feels the "responsible" thing to do would be to pull some of the ads for the Wii and other Wii related products because the demand for the console is higher than they anticipated.
Nintendo originally estimated sales of about 14 million and have long since surpassed that figure. A spokesperson for the company has said "As we are keen to act responsibly we are potentially looking at moving some advertising on some products into early 2008."
Really, as far as we’re concerned, this won’t help. People already know about the Wii. It’s been out for over a year now, so it’s not like pulling the ads will make people forget it exists. We certainly haven’t. What with writing about it every five minutes...
