Nintendo delays Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii until March
Redmond (WA) - Yes, it’s true - Wii owners eagerly awaiting the video game mascot free-for-all will have to change the mark on their calendars from February 10 to one month later.
"Due to delays in the completion of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, we’ve had to change the release date of the game to Sunday, March 9th," said developer Masahiro Sakurai on the game’s official website.
Brawl, possibly the most anticipated Wii game to date, was originally scheduled for release last December. It was pushed back to February, missing the critical holiday season.
The Smash Bros series has gained mass acclaim since its Nintendo 64 debut in 1999, and the Wii installment brings so many ties together that fans have been waiting for. It will be the first to have online battles, cooperative play modes, and a "create your own stage" mode. Additionally, non-Nintendo characters are joining the fight, with Metal Gear’s Snake making an appearance as well as the long-awaited debut of Sonic the Hedgehog.
