Redmond (WA) - Nintendo’s digital download store just got a bit more crowded with the first addition of a new platform of classic downloads since the Wii launched last year.
Turbografx CD made its debut on the Virtual Console this morning. The flagship title is Gate of Thunder, a horizontal side-scrolling shooter. The TG-CD is the successor to the Turbografx-16, which was part of the initial lineup of Virtual Console platforms.
TG-CD games are priced at 800 Wii Points ($8), putting them at a $2 premium over Turbografx 16 titles. The 800 Wii Point decision puts TG-CD at the same price level as Sega Genesis and Super NES games.
Also added to the online outlet today is Ninja Gaiden II for the NES and Metal Marines for the Super NES. These two titles sell for 500 Wii Points ($5) and 800 Wii Points ($8), respectively.
