Two New Races, Expansion for WOW?
Are two new races coming to Blizzard's World of Warcraft? WoW Insider says yes, and may appear in a possible expansion called World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. According to unspecified sources, the new races will be Worgen (Alliance) and Goblin (Horde). Apparently, the conclusion that Cataclysm will include two new races stems from four new textures of Halloween masks found in the last PTR build: Helm_Mask_Halloween_GoF, Helm_Mask_Halloween_GoM, Helm_Mask_Halloween_WoF, and Helm_Mask_Halloween_WoM. Despite this, goblins in WoW have been a neutral race since the game's release.
In addition, the new expansion may very well change the face of Azeroth itself, updating the four-year-old MMORPG to better compete with Star Wars: The Old Republic launching next year. Rawcast theorizes that a massive water-based event will obliterate a good portion of Azeroth including the Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms (hence the use of Cataclysm). Granted the scenario is just a theory, the site lists several reasons for its conclusion, citing support for water-based adventures and low-level areas becoming irrelevant with each new patch and expansion.
If a new expansion and two new races will indeed be released for World of Warcraft, Blizzard will more than likely announce their existence during BlizzCon 2009 later this month.

Worgen is a good guess considering Gilneas is yet to be explorable. But I seriously doubt the Goblin theory. Anyway Blizzard better pull out all the stops in this next expansion, the same old recipe is getting very bland.

2 Months ago I laid wow to rest after being with Blizzard since the launch in Feb 11, 2005.
The game just gets boring after having played it through and the leveling(read: grinding) through to 80 and Playing the same content time and again with lousy droprates doesn't help either.
It is however a cool game, and definitely has been the top of the pool for coming on to 5 years now, but the proof is in the pudding...
Wow will have to evolve or count on the influx of new members to keep it going, because more and more oldschool players leave wow every day due to the game not evolving enough. (patches and expansions add more of the same)
Perhaps in a new content patch you get to fight the lich king in icecrown citadel. Upon his defeat the frozen wastes of northrend may melt causing vast areas of kalimdor and eastern kingdoms to dissapear below sea level? just my thoughts on how to explain the possible cataclysm / flood.
