Vodafone launch music download service
Vodafone has gotten in on the music on your mobile game with it’s new service, MusicStation.
MusicStation is the company’s new service, which it offers in connection with mobile music company Omnifone. Using MusicStation customers can download an unlimited amount of songs from an online library.
The library has an archive of 1.2 million tracks and subscribing customers are allowed unrestricted access to these songs for just £1.99 a month, unlike Apple’s iTunes which offers customers songs for purchase on a track by track basis.
Vodafone have launched their new service, no doubt, in time to get a piece of the Christmas cake and the fact that the songs are unlimited for the weekly fee might drag one or two customers away from O2’s iPhone which will be on the shelves for £269.
Vodafone also have the added bonus of not needing to download the songs to your computer first. Downloaded songs go directly to the handset.
It does all sound too good to be true and unfortunately, upon closer inspection, there is a catch. Subscription fee is £1.99 a week which gives you unlimited access, and that’s wonderful. But, as soon as you cancel your subscription, the thieves take back all the music. Yes, shake your fists ! But, you can’t fault them. They advertise it as a service so technically they’re not doing anything wrong. Still...
The service is currently available on 13 Vodafone handsets with more to follow.

Vodafone. Oh, Vodafone.
The company that blocks your phone's user-agent being sent to the website.
"Let's pretend all our customers are accessing the internet from x86 Linux machines"
Now that they've blocked their users from a great deal of online mobile content, they release a download site.
Well, thank you Vodafone.
