3UK and Virgin to Carry BlackBerry 9810
Both 3UK and Virgin Media have confirmed that they will carry the just-announced BlackBerry Torch 9810.
Research In Motion is enjoying some time in the spotlight today following the unveiling of five new BlackBerrys. Among the newly announced handsets is the newest addition to the BlackBerry Torch line, the BlackBerry Torch 9810.
While RIM was more than happy to divulge a vague 'starting at the end of August' release date for all of its new phones, the company didn't provide anything specific regarding countries or carriers. Thankfully, Virgin and 3UK are on the ball -- the two have confirmed that they'll both be carrying the new Torch 9810. Sadly, neither of the carriers were able to offer a release date. Still, at least we know the device is bound for the UK.
The 9810 boasts a 3.2-inch touchscreen and, in true Torch style, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Specswise you're looking at a 1.2GHz CPU, 24-bit graphics, HD video recording and a 5-megapixel camera. It also features RIM's new BlackBerry 7 OS, which the company claims is 40 percent faster for browsing than BlackBerry 6-based phones and up to 100 percent faster than browsing on BlackBerry 5 devices. The browser also boasts optimized zooming and panning for smoother web navigation and optimized HTML5 performance for gaming and video experiences. Surfing aside, BB 7 includes the newest editions of BBM and Facebook for BlackBerry, enhanced social features and more refined phone, email, messaging tools.
