Half the UK is looking for love online
If it’s not you, it’s the person next to you.
2007 saw a huge increase in Britons looking for love online. We’re all so busy, what with being so career driven, we don’t find the time to woo the opposite sex.
According to online match making service, Parship, one in two people in the UK is into online dating, with the most enthusiastic being those in their 30s.
In 2005, roughly five million people used the internet to find a date. Compare this to the eight million that dabbled in online dating in 2007 and that gives you an increase of over fifty percent.
52% of UK men and 48% of women have used the internet to find a date, compared to figures in 2005 of 36% for men and 34% for women.
What’s more, 53% of singles (59% of men and 46% of women) say they intend to use the Internet meet someone in the future.
But what about those singletons, you ask ? Are they happy ?
Apparently only 35% of unattached singles are dissatisfied with their single status and only 39% say they are really happy being single.
According to Parship, this is all down to being hopeless romantics. The survey was conducted in 13 countries around Europe and of these countries, the U.K. was found to be the most fond of waiting for Mr or Ms Right.
Funnily enough, we’re also into marriage more than long term relationships. In other words, once you’ve got them, lock it down.
