On2Share Pro: Various Settings
Broadcast Settings
The Broadcast Settingsmenu allows you to configure your server’s behavior in relation to other A/V media adapters or servers.
General Settings
The next menu entry governs various settings for the On2Share Pro server, such as the start-up behavior within the OS. The first option sets the server to start together with Windows. Alternatively, it can start when Winamp or the Windows Media Player are launched. The final option starts On2Share Pro minimized to the system tray, without the entire interface being visible on the screen.
Log Messages
Every time a change is made to the software or a media file is requested by the player, this is noted in the log file. Possible problems with unplayable files are also logged here. In our case, we were unable to play two AVI files (The Shield 1x01 and The Shield 1x02). It doesn’t provide information about why the files won’t play, though.
We only found out later that the player does not support the video codec used by these files. You can read more on this problem in the second part of this series, which deals with uPNP Clients and will appear soon.
