TomTom teams up with Vodafone Germany to provide customers with the world's most advanced traffic information service

Leading GPS manufacturer, TomTom, today announced that it will work exclusively with Vodafone Germany to bring TomTom HD Traffic to Germany.

The announcement comes after the previously announced partnerships with Vodafone for the UK and Dutch markets.

HD Traffic is TomTom’s new, unique traffic information system that delivers up to date, accurate travel time information.

To provide accurate, real time traffic information for all major roads in Germany, TomTom information from various different sources. The TomTom in-house patented technology uses data collected from the Vodafone Germany network on the speed and direction that mobile phones are travelling in cars.

This data is combined with German traffic information sources to deliver the most up to date traffic reports available. TomTom HD Traffic gives customers realistic arrival times based on its constantly updated information both before and during their journey.

TomTom CEO, Harold Goddijn, said that TomTom HD Traffic was part of the company’s “goal to provide the best and most reliable navigation solutions for car drivers” along with the goal to provide the service to 50% of our European customers by the end of 2008.

The service is already live in The Netherlands and expects to be fully operational in Germany in the second half of 2008.
