Want to Work for Tom's Hardware UK? Click here!
Good news, guys (and girls), we're hiring!
We're looking for someone to adapt and produce content for Tom's Hardware UK and IRL. The money is decent but there are a few conditions and requirements so make sure you tick all the boxes before applying.
You'll be writing for an audience of over 30 million readers per month. This includes IT professionals, decision-makers, influencers, tech enthusiasts, developers, gamers and consumers. Basically, these people eat, sleep and breathe technology and hardware so it would be pretty helpful if you did too. Passion is a must for this job.
- You must have a good grasp of the English language and be able to both speak and write it fluently.
- You will be producing UK content as well as adapting international content for the UK market. Not only that, but you'll be responsible for the general look and feel of Tom's UK and IRL and will report directly to the UK country manager.
- You'll also be spending quite a bit of time on price comparison engines.
- The ability to forecast article availability and work on a schedule is important too. Deadlines are fun but the noise they make when they 'WHOOSH' by is pretty awful.
- Age-wise, we're looking for someone over the age of 18 as this is a full time position.
- Lastly, the position is for someone based in Suresnes, France so speaking the odd bit of French would probably be helpful.
So, if you want to write about hardware, and more importantly, work with the charming people of Tom's Hardware and Bestofmedia, you should contact Isabelle Dumonteil ( idumonteil.at.bestofmedia.dot.com) with the appropriate bribes information.
Happy applying, everyone!

You want the new Tom's UK person to be based in France? heh
Will this person filter out American competitions and offers?
Sorry to be a bore, but isn't that age range related stuff above highly illegal in the Single European jobs marketplace if this REALLY is a public invitation to apply for a job?
And some nit-picker would probably have you also for the "(and girls)" quip at the start.
My 2 Euros. Dave
Will this person filter out American competitions and offers?
I'll check that out for you but provisionally, I'm going to go with, yes, absolutely.
Well it was going ok till it got rather too specific at the bottom.
So is the writer's girlfriend getting the job?
Otherwise the applicant list could be a bit small.
@Dave:
There is the possibility that the post was written by Isabelle and mind, I don't speak French; I'm pretty sure she or whoever has written it isn't being gender biased or sending a quip.
Interpretations/Assumptions on postings can, unfortunately, always cause quite a stir - perhaps it's all the pressure mounting for this homo sapien vacancy! ;-)

Being a woman, I don't have a girlfriend so it would be hard to give her the job.

It was written by me and of course, I'm not trying to discriminate based on gender! I just recognise that we have more male than female readers.
Yep this is so everyone stops moaning at how badly the US articles come off over here especially the prices where if you are lucky they run them through a currency converter which has no actual reflecting on UK prices.

Oh and jane, you are clearly being homophobic with that I don't have a girlfriend comment (most likely just a bit on the side)
Going by what has been done before, this job consists of doing fuck all. If it wasn't for the live in France bit. I'd go for it. I wonder how much the pay cut is?

Not at all. Just trying to point out that it was a woman writing the piece.
why on earth is the post in a different country to the publication?
surely if it can be written in france and published on the net it can be written anywhere????
So is this a new post or has it recently been vacated ? I to dont get the based in France bit either.
The Ad looks fine legalese wise to me as you have to be over 18 to work the hours this post will need putting in if its going to be done properly.
how much do you think the salary is
how much do you think the salary is
Enough.
"Lastly, the position is for someone based in Suresnes, France..."
Does that not then rule out much of the UK which is in erm.. the UK? I thought I may apply then I saw that. Being in Scotland and not Suresnes, France I feel a little cheated.
well it would be fun, but first of i'm portuguese and my french just suks lol... by the way if you are interested in starting a portuguese version of the site give me a call xD would love to be a part of it lol =)

Same here.
[off]actually you guys should check out the flags on the header, they don't reflect the 'worldwide' availability of the site because on the central & east european pages the last post has added around 2007...[/off]
by the way i'd be up to make translations/articles for the hungarian version. oh, and i'm located in London,UK.
Does the applicant have to live in Suresnes / commute there or, will the requirement be to visit there from time to time for progress reports and meetings ?
Why are these jobs always based at an office somewhere? I would have thought that a tech company like Tom's would have gotten over all this location based nonsense by now, and an editorial job like this would be a perfect "work from home" position.
My computer doesn't need to be in a specific location to write articles, review price websites etc etc.
timbozero > For now we are looking at someone who would be based in Suresnes (VERY near Paris).
iinweed > We do work with a lot of remote editors, but the fact is that nothing replaces human contact, especially for a full-time job.
Shame, I am between Bergerac and Bordeaux so a daily commute there would be painful at best.
Well, if you decide otherwise you can contact me via my registered THW account email to discuss my background.
Good luck.
I offered my services a few years ago as a proof reader for Toms UK (they sure needed one) after becoming totally fed up with readingt ypos and poor smelling with unacceptable grammar but I never received a reply.
I guess being Dyslexic myself would exclude me from applying for this position too? Or maybe I'm just too old at 51?
I actually stopped visiting Toms because I just couldn't be bothered to read the articles any more. I see that things have improved a little now though.
I am available and willing to relocate to France from this Titanic listing ship HMS UK.
Speak French? No need, I can shout in English, that'll make them understand me.
@Dave
HAHAHAHA
