Tesco Mobile Blocking iOS 4.3's Personal Hotspot
The iPhone may have just gotten mobile hotspots via iOS 4.3 but Tesco Mobile users won't be able to use the new feature for a while.
Today is iPad 2 launch day for U.S. shoppers, but it's also iOS 4.3 day for all iPhone 4 and iPad owners. However, it seems Tesco Mobile customers aren't seeing one of the biggest features to come with this update: Personal Hotspot.
Personal Hotspot allows users to set their iPhone 4 up as a mobile hotspot, taking a 3G connection and sharing it as WiFi for other devices to connect to. However, Tesco has said that since it doesn't support tethering, customers won't be getting the portable hotspot feature either.
"Tesco Mobile doesn't currently support the functionality for personal Wi-Fi spots but plans to be able to introduce this soon for customers," a spokesperson told Tech Radar.
No word on how much that’s going to cost or when 'soon' is. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted!
