Tesco and Blinkbox Let You Access Digital Copies of Your DVDs
Tesco has teamed up with Blinkbox to offer customers digital versions of the DVDs or Blu-rays they purchased in-store.
Tesco has announced a partnership with Blinkbox that will allow customers who have purchased movies on DVD or Blu-ray to access and stream a digital copy of that same movie on their computer. The scheme goes live tomorrow, coinciding with the launch of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. For now, it is only available for selected films from the likes of Lionsgate, Warner Home Video, Paramount and 2 Entertain. If you're looking specifically for a Blinkbox-compatible movie, you should look for the special Blinkbox sticker (pictured right) when browsing the DVD section at Tesco.
From there, all you have to do is scan your Clubcard at the checkout, visit blinkbox.com to register and link your account with your Clubcard, and wait for the online version of your movie to appear in your Blinkbox library. This should be the day after purchase. Once it appears, you can watch it as many times as you like on your PC, games console, tablet, or smart tv.
"Customers know that Tesco is a great retailer for new technology," said Richard Brasher, CEO, Tesco UK. "This innovation with blinkbox will help start a digital revolution, combining the physical DVD with the digital for the first time. Starting with the magic of Harry Potter, there will be many more great titles to follow for customers to enjoy online wherever and whenever they like."
