Report: HTC Building Pricey Nvidia Tegra 2 Tablet

by - source: Tom's Hardware US

Pegatron has supposedly landed a contract to produce an Android tablet for smartphone-maker HTC.

If you've been hoping for a HTC tablet, despite the fact that the company says it's not building one, then you might be in luck. Word on the street is Pegatron has just received an Android tablet order from the smartphone manufacturer. The best part? The device will reportedly pack Nvidia's Tegra 2 chipset.

Digtimes cites sources from component makers that say the device will pack Android, Tegra 2, a multi-touch 1280×720 display, 32GB of solid state storage, 2GB of memory and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. No definitive price has been mentioned but Digtimes cites "market watchers" in estimating somewhere around NT$25,000 (US$789.75). The site's source didn't mention any details at all when it came to a release date.

We'll keep you posted on this one, so stay tuned!

Would be nice to have 3G capability in there too so we're not tied to wifi for internet access.
