Former TechCrunch Tablet JooJoo Packs Nvidia Ion

It's been a few months since we've heard anything about the JooJoo, the web surfing tablet formerly known as the CrunchPad.

The JooJoo has been shrouded in controversy and drama since it was announced . Before it was the JooJoo, it was the CrunchPad and the brainchild of TechCrunch founder Michael Arrington. After a very messy falling out, Arrington's partner on the project took the idea and ran, making the decision that his company, Fusion Garage, would release the CrunchPad by itself.

While the TechCrunch crew is shouting IP theft and filing lawsuits, Fusion Garage is trying to market the tablet. Engadget today reports that the device has hit the FCC which means full documentation and a teardown.

FCC filings reveal Nvidia's Ion chipset paired with Intel's Atom N270 and a 3G card. Engadget reports getting a list of video formats from Fusion Garage, which says the device will support AVI, MPEG-4, MOV, WMV and WMA, FLV (Flash Video), VOB, OGG, OGM and OGV, MKV (Mastroska), DiVX and XVi.

Pre-orders for the device started last December ($499) but there's no word on an official shipping/release date.
