Richard Garriot’s upcoming sci-fi MMORPG seems set to fill the void left by the slow death of Star Wars Galaxies, there are at the moment, no real commercial sci-fi MMO games to speak of available (with the notable exception of Eve Online).
What’s particularly unusual about Tabula Rasa isn’t that it’s a futuristic MMO, but that it’s effectively an MMORPGFPS ; characters are kitted out with projectile weapons, rather than the usual array of swords and axes. We can’t attest to how well it’ll work out but its developers have been adamant that Tabula Rasa will buck the trend of fantasy MMOs.
Tabula Rasa has entered closed beta, and while there have been some complaints of teething difficulties, things seem to be going quite well.
