Expecting stronger demand for chip-on-glass (COG) package from the PDA (personal digital assistant) and high-end mobile phone markets, Taiwanese TFT LCD driver IC gold bumping service providers expect their capacity utilization rates to increase in the third quarter. Though some companies are expanding capacity, they think gold bumping is in oversupply and prices will remain level this year.
