Christmas is coming and it’s time to write to trusty old St Nick to ask for things that we don’t even need. But isn’t that what it’s all about ? Ridiculously expensive things you can’t afford ? Maybe not, but that’s definitely what the Toys 4 Big Boys convention is about.

Below is ten of the coolest things you can see at this years convention, designed to give your Christmas wish-lists a little push in the right direction.

10.The Buttkicker. They are similar to loudspeakers, but instead of moving a cone, and transferring sound waves through the air, they attach to seats, floors, platforms, etc, and send low frequency sound directly into the listener’s body. This is one feature I will definitely be hitting up tomorrow. As a woman, this sounds like the best invention ever.

9. Hi-Fi Unit with Flatlift Silver Pop up TV Lift In essence this is a hydraulic lift that is built into the furniture and can accommodate a TV or Hi-fi system which effectively pops out of the furniture on the push of a button. This system comes completely pre-assembled and can be custom built for units of any size with any material for any space.

8. The Amulet Media Centre The Amulet Media Center makes it easy to record and watch TV, listen to your favourite music, and view DVDs, videos and photos – all using simple voice commands. With hundreds of digital channels, finding what you want to watch can be difficult. With Amulet, you just say “Watch channel Discovery” and the system tunes into the Discovery channel. If you know Law and Order is on tonight, but aren’t sure what station, say “Watch Program Law & Order”, and Amulet will find and display it. Recording TV is just as easy. The same approach works for music and all your CDs are digitally stored on the Amulet system.

7.Arcade Games Ireland This is a true arcade cabinet that will last. The quality of these machines is so good that they are popular with celebrities, footballers, singers & sports personalities. (can you tell we’re taking this from the press release ?) Seriously though, if you’ve ever wanted an arcade machine, these things run a whole range of different games that we used to play when we were kids. Donkey Kong, Pacman Scramble, Space Invaders, Dig Dug, Lady Bug, 4DWarriors, Galaga, Galaxian, Frogger, PacmanPlus. I want one so badly.

6.Panasonic 103" plasma TV OMG you say ? We say too, so don’t worry. The world’s largest full HD plasma screen comes courtesy of visual glue and would set you back, oh, only about €90145. Ouch.

5.Ducati 1098 The 1098 immediately strikes you with its purposeful, no-nonsense attitude. Performance is first and foremost in every detail. The 1098 is the first production motorcycle to have the stopping power of Brembo Monobloc brakes, the first to have a data acquisition system integrated as standard equipment and the first to use an ingenious construction method for its weight-saving single-sided swing arm. The 1098 when it comes down to it, is a racing bike. It transmits the quality and character of contact between road surface and tire, it signals the way the chassis will react next and responds instinctively to rider commands.

4.The Lotus Elise S What a car. It’s one of them 0-60mph in 5.8 seconds, 134 bhp and a top speed of 127 mph jobs. 3.Signed Muhammad Ali shorts Now, I personally don’t see the appeal of these, but the boys have assured me that they’re just about the coolest thing going. There’s only two pairs in the world and Icons Memorabilia managed to get them from Ali’s Agent. They can be authenticated on Ali’s website via a bar code number attached to the shorts.

2.Gyrocopter Made famous by ’Little Nellie’ in the James Bond movie, You Only Live Twice, Gyrocopters are the ultimate fantasy transport and you can get up close to one for the first time ever at this year’s Toys 4 Big Boys.

1.Ford GT This car is one of two in Ireland and yet again represents another piece of history. The engine is a mid-mounted supercharged 5.4 liter V8, producing 550 horsepower and 500 foot-pounds of torque. The top speed on this car is also over 200 mph (322 km/h). If you are a Ford or car fan in general, this will be a dream machine right before your eyes.
