T-Mobile UK Offers Unlimited 'Full Monty' Plan
All you can eat, and they mean it this time.
ISPs and mobile phone providers are often criticized for advertising unlimited plans that aren't really unlimited. However, T-Mobile this week announced a new plan really is unlimited. There isn't even a 'fair use' policy, which is the caveat that networks usually apply when talking about unlimited plans.
Dubbed the Full Monty, the plan includes unlimited everything for £41 per month. There is a cheaper version for £36 per month, but this plan does not offer truly unlimited calling -- the £36 option offers unlimited web, texts and calls to other T-Mobile customers, but you only get 2,000 minutes for calls to other networks. Paying an extra £5 per month gets you unlimited everything, even tethering, VOIP and P2P file sharing. The plan will go live on February 1 and will be based on a 24-month contract.
According to Wired UK, there are some restrictions on calls and texts. You can call all UK mobile networks, voicemail and numbers beginning with 01, 02, 03 (excluding Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man) but calls to 08 (including 0870) or 070 numbers are premium rate numbers and not part of your inclusive allowances. Calls to 0800, 0808, 0845 and other 08 numbers are charged at a rate of 40p/min.
