Surround Records cheats on HD DVD with Blu-ray
Los Angeles (CA) - Independent music distributor Surround Records has announced that it will start releasing titles on Blu-ray Disc, nixing its exclusivity with HD DVD.
Surround Records first started releasing HD DVD titles last year. The discs have mainly been classical music collections like Bach and Mozart.
The titles are notable because they are some of the first multichannel music releases on a high definition home media format. Until now, Surround’s HD titles have been exclusively released on HD DVD.
The distributor said it will bring all its HD DVD titles to Blu-ray by the end of the spring but will not drop HD DVD support. Future titles are expected to be released on both formats.
