Chris Pine to be next Captain Kirk
Actor Chris Pine is in talks with Paramount with regard to the role of the young Captain Kirk in the new Star Trek film.
The film’s cast already includes, among others, Simon Pegg (Scotty) and Eric Bana (the bad guy), and if Pine decides to accept the role the crew of the Starship Enterprise will be complete.
With filming for the Trek prequel expected to begin next month and run from November through to March, the production schedule clashes with another film the young actor is in discussions with for an adaptation of the James Ellroy novel White Jazz, (also starring George Clooney) which has a production start scheduled for mid-January.
Little-known Pine’s biggest role to date was the Lindsay Lohan/McFly tweeny-flick Just My Luck, which flopped spectacularly.
