Sony Xperia Play Launching March 31 in the UK
It's been years on the horizon, but it looks like we might finally have a launch date for the PlayStation Phone, the Xperia Play.
Though we've been hearing about this phone for years (first as a myth, then as a prototype and finally, as a real product), we've never actually had a solid release date for the phone. However, it seems MCV UK has managed to get one and, apparently, that 'spring' release we’d been hearing about actually translates to March 31 for UK customers.
Sony Ericsson's marketing director for UK and Ireland, David Hilton. told MCV that the device is being backed by Sony Ericsson's "biggest UK marketing campaign ever," and will be sold by all mobile retailers and operators. There’s also a possibility it will be available via other, less traditional channels, such as game stores.
Speaking to MCV, Hilton didn't rule out further additions to SE’s gaming line. Though he said it would depend on how the Xperia Play fares, he hinted that the potential for growth was there.
