Curry's, PC World Give TVs Away with Sony Tablet S Purchases
Who wants a Sony tablet? No? What about a tablet and a TV for £400?
Sony's upcoming Sony Tablet S device has finally made its way out of pre-order status in the United Kingdom. Officially launched at IFA (but first unveiled back in April), the Sony Tablet S hits UK shelves today priced at at £399 for the 16GB WiFi-only model, and £479 for the 32GB WiFi model.
The Tablet S is Sony's first tablet device and runs the Honeycomb 3.1 build of Google's Android OS. It boasts Nvidia's dual-core Tegra 2 CPU, a 9.4-inch touchscreen, 1GB of RAM, up to 32GB of storage, a rear-facing 5-megapixel camera, a front-facing 3-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, and is fully PlayStation Certified. It's also got a unique asymmetric wedge design, which Sony calls an "off-center of gravity design" that "realizes stability and ease of grip as well as a sense of stability and lightness, offering comfortable use for hours."
Interest in the tablet has increased thanks to a generous offer from PC World and Curry's that saw the first 100 customers to purchase the tablet at the flagship store at Tottenham Court Road, London, receive a free 32-inch Sony Bravia TV along with their tablet. The Huffington Post reports that doors opened at 7am this morning and queues were still forming as commuters made their way to work at 8:45am.
