Some of you may have noticed that there is a distinct shortage of Nintendo Wiis. Some of you may have been upset, but are making the most of a bad situation by buying the console online at Amazon or eBay. You know who else is making the best of a bad situation? Sony, that’s who. The recent price cut of the Sony PS3 in the U.S. no doubt has something to do with the shortage of Wiis around the place.
According to a Sony bigwig, the shortage in Wiis was “fortuitous” and the price cuts (which sold them 100,000 PS3s in 7 days) were bringing them the increase in sales which the company has been anticipating.
Are we the only ones thinking that if they had to cut the price to increase sales, it’s not exactly the sales increase they’ve been looking for? Not to mention the fact that people are only buying it because they can’t get their hands on a Wii
