Samsung and Sony ink contract for 8G LCD production

Samsung Electronics and Sony today signed a contract for the construction of an eighth -generation (8G) TFT LCD production line through S-LCD, a joint venture of the two companies. The companies plan to invest approximately US$1.9 billion (each company providing half) to establish the 8G LCD line, which will produce glass substrates approximately 2200×2500mm in size.
