Curry's, PC World to Get Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 First

by - source: The Register

Curry's and PC World will sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1 earlier than other retailers.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 a long time ago, but the tablets have yet to make their way to the United Kingdom. They are on their way, however; five weeks ago Samsung confirmed that the tablet would arrive on August 4. So, if you've been salivating over the spec sheet since it was revealed at CTIA Wireless in March of this year, you don't have much longer to wait.

Still, if even August 4 seems like a lifetime away, you've got another option. PC World and Curry's will be getting the tablet a full day ahead of other retailers. The Register reports that the PC World location in Tottenham Court Road will be selling the 10.1-inch Galaxy Tab on August 3, along with sister store Curry's. According to the Reg, PC World and Curry's have the exclusive on the WiFi-only for the month of August and will be charging £399 for it.

In case you need a little reminded, the 10.1 boasts Nvidia's Tegra 2 chipset, a 10.1-inch display, Android 3.1 Honeycomb, WiFi and 3G (optional), an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a choice of either 16GB or 32GB of storage.

"The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the latest example of Samsung's ongoing innovation in this market and commitment to the Android platform," said Simon Stanford, Managing Director of Mobile at Samsung UK and Ireland, last month. "Our Galaxy family all feature a premium design, excellent screens and are packed with compelling entertainment features. We plan to deliver exciting new user experiences and lead the tablet market in the months and years to come."
