New York (NY) – Samsung says it has begun shipping what the company claims is the fastest DVD burner on the market today.
The new SH-S203N is an internal SATA DVD writer offering up to 20x recording speed (26.4 MB/s) on DVD±R media as well as 16x speed (21.1 MB/s) on DVD+R Dual Layer media. The device writes at 12x on DVD-RAM, 12x on DVD-R Dual Layer, 8x on DVD+RW and 6x on DVD-RW discs.
Additional features of the drive include Lightscribe to engrave labels or photos onto Lightscribe CDs or DVDs, automatic speed adjustment to CD and DVD media, actuator compensation and an automatic ball balancing system.
The SH-S203N is available for a street price of $80, Samsung said.
