Samsung: Bada Tablets Not Destined for UK
No Bada tablets for the UK.
Samsung has said consumers in the United Kingdom will not be seeing Bada tablets on shop shelves anytime in the near future. The company spoke to TechRadar today and told the site that while Bada tablets might be on the cards, a UK launch is not part of the plan.
"[Bada tablets are] not on the agenda for now, at least not as far as the UK is concerned," the company told TR.
Though Samsung has quite the portfolio of Google Android phones (the company recently partnered with Google to produce the flagship Ice Cream Sandwich device, the Galaxy Nexus), it says it is 'absolutely committed' to Bada.
This past summer, at IFA, Sammy unveiled three new Bada phones, the Wave 3, the Wave M and the Wave Y. The most notable of the three is definitely the Wave 3, which can go toe-to-toe with the best of them in terms of specs with its 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 1.4GHz processor, and 5-megapixel camera capable of shooting video at 720p. Speaking to TechRadar, head of content Keith O'Brien said that the company 'doesn't know which OS will become dominant.'
"We don't know which OS will become dominant, if any. Really, we've only just begun, and the potential for mobile OSes to start impregnating other devices is vast," he said, adding that it's important for Samsung to have its own software and hardware. "We're hedging our bets as far as operating systems go; this year it just so happens that Android is the OS of the day."
