Royal Wedding Tops the iTunes TV Charts
Who wants to watch it all again?
What with all the records it broke, we thought it was safe to assume that anyone who wanted to see the Royal Wedding was among the reported two billion people that tuned in to watch it live on Friday morning. However, it seems there are folks that either missed the event altogether or want to watch it again, and they’ve turned to iTunes to get their fix.
According to TechDigest, the Royal Wedding has just topped the iTunes charts. TD says the free download showing the highlights of the marriage between Prince William and Catherine Middleton beat the hugely popular Doctor Who and The Inbetweeners to the coveted top spot in the iTunes charts. Of course, one could point out that this was a free download, so the Royal Wedding had a leg-up on the competition.
The news follows an intense, record-breaking weekend of Royal watching that stretched around the globe. Earlier reports revealed that the event smashed streaming records (with Google preparing for an audience of 400 million for its YouTube feed) and took over social networking sites. The Royal Wedding was mentioned 74 times a second on Facebook and 67 times every second on Twitter. As you can imagine, the Royal Wedding also dominated the trending topics on both sites.
